England continue their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign with a home clash against Latvia.
Victory will see Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions stay top of their Qualifying Group K, whilst Latvia can overtake England and go to the summit of the group.
Team News
Anthony Gordon is ruled out for England after he suffered a hip injury in their win over Albania, despite having only came on as a second-half substitute.
Latvia have no fresh injury concerns following their 1-0 win away to Andorra last Friday (21 March).
When is Kick-Off?
England host Latvia at Wembley Stadium on Monday 24 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is England Men’s first-ever meeting against Latvia in all competitions.
- Latvia’s National Men’s Team are making their first away trip to England across all competitions.
- England have scored seven goals in their last two home matches without conceding (W2).
- Latvia have won just one of their last five away matches in all competitions (W1, D2, L2).
Prediction
After a lacklustre yet clinical win over Albania in which their playing identity looked exactly like Gareth Southgate’s era but with more urgency and intensity in their passing, England really need to step up and show more flair here if they want to seriously progress forward ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Latvia meanwhile scraped past Andorra in a cagey game but this will be a tough test for a team who have won just one of their last five away games, so I do expect them to probably try and set up defensively to frustrate England and hit the hosts on the counter-attack.
I however can’t see England losing this but they surely have to do better against probably one of their most easiest opposition in the group.
Prediction: England 2-0 Latvia
