Riding high on their recent win, Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Visiting skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first on a tacky surface at Motera. The hosts suffered an early setback when Jofra Archer removed Shubman Gill in the third over. However, Sai Sudharsan held the innings together and, in partnership with Jos Buttler, guided Gujarat to 56/1 at the end of the powerplay. The pair looked fluent as they added 81 runs, with the southpaw notching up his third half-century of the season off just 32 deliveries, pushing Gujarat to 88/1 in nine overs. Their flourishing stand was eventually broken by Maheesh Theekshana, who dismissed Buttler in the 10th over. Sudharsan maintained his rhythm and, alongside Shahrukh Khan, took Gujarat to 124/2 by the 13th over. The duo looked assured in the middle overs, adding 51 runs to lift the total to 145/2 after 15 overs. Shahrukh’s promising knock ended in the 16th over as Theekshana struck again. Meanwhile, Sherfane Rutherford couldn’t get going and was dismissed in the 17th over. Rajasthan found some relief when Tushar Deshpande removed the well-set Sudharsan in the 19th over for a brilliant 82 off 53. A late surge from Rahul Tewatia (24 off 12) and Rashid Khan (12 off 4) powered Gujarat to a formidable 217/6 in 20 overs.
In response, the visitors endured a dreadful start with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana falling inside the first three overs. However, Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson wasted no time in shifting gears, propelling the score to 57/2 by the end of the powerplay. Just after the field restrictions eased, Kulwant Khejroliya struck a crucial blow by removing Parag, who departed after a brisk 26 off 14 balls. However, Samson looked in fine touch with a fluent 41 off 27 deliveries and, along with Shimron Hetmyer and took the total to 115/4 in 12 overs. Unfortunately, his stay was cut short when Prasidh Krishna dismissed him in the 13th over. With half the side back in the hut, Rajasthan still required 99 runs from the final seven overs. The pressure mounted further as Shubham Dubey fell cheaply in the 14th over. Although the chase grew tougher, Hetmyer kept hopes alive with a quickfire half-century off 29 balls. But wickets continued to tumble from the other end, with Jofra Archer falling in the 16th over, leaving the score at 144/7. Hetmyer’s dismissal in the same over all but sealed Rajasthan’s fate. Ultimately, the hosts lost the game by 58 runs as they succumbed for 159 runs.

It is Sai Sudarshan who does all the carry job for GT in tough situations on consistent basis.
But then there will be one easy chase of 150 with Gill scoring 50 & he will get princess shouts. Gill is not even 20% of Sai, should play in tests at 3 in Eng.pic.twitter.com/5UCOHpvBUK— Rajiv (@Rajiv1841) April 9, 2025

They are winning it
Look Idk what GT are doing right. No one can explain this shiz. Don’t come to me with “sticking with basics”. Their XI is not balanced from modern T20 POV, yet they are not only winning, they are winning convincingly. That said, Gill has impressed me w his bowling changes.

Good question
You’re the captain of your team.
The situation: 6 balls, 25 runs needed.
You have the following batsmen available:
•Hardik Pandya
•Shubman Gill
•Rohit Sharma
•Virat Kohli
•Sanju Samson
Who do you send in to bat, and why?
