Egypt international, Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool.
Salah has scored 32 goals and created 22 assists in 45 appearances for the Reds this season across all competitions, with the team on course for a second Premier League title.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com about his new contract, Salah spoke of his excitement at finalising his future at Anfield beyond his current eight-year stint.
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
Salah also pledged his full backing to manager, Arne Slot as he explained that he wouldn’t of signed a new contract if he didn’t believe that Slot was the right boss to guide him and Liverpool to more success.
“If I don’t believe that I would have not signed. I believe the team can win trophies,” explained Salah on his support for Slot.
“With the support of the fans and the city, and the support they always give us in the games, I believe we can win many trophies in the next years.”
Liverpool need just 11 more points to secure the league title but is wary of Arsenal who still can deny the Reds a second Premier League crown.
“I think I said in the beginning of the season, I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else. I want it so bad, to be fair,” said Salah on his desire to add another domestic league title to his silverware.
“The fans deserve it – last time we won it we didn’t celebrate it that much. Hopefully we do it this time. There’s still seven games to go, it’s not going to be easy at all because Arsenal are also catching up.
“We’ll give it our all and hopefully in the end we can win it.”
