Burnley meet Sheffield United in a Easter Monday Championship blockbuster showdown in the race for automatic promotion.
Victory would see Burnley secure promotion and also guarantee Leeds’ promotion in the process if the Whites beat Stoke in mid-afternoon, whilst Sheffield Utd will stay third and move to within two points of the Clarets with two games left this season.
Team News
Burnley have no fresh injury concerns following their comeback 2-1 victory at Watford on Good Friday.
Lyle Foster (shoulder), Bashir Humphreys (quad), Jonjo Shelvey, Mike Tresor (both unspecified), Manuel Benson (ankle), Jordan Beyer and Aaron Ramsey (both knee) are still ruled out.
Sheffield Utd too have no fresh injury issues to report after a clinical 2-0 home win over Cardiff.
Oliver Arblaster (ACL), Rhys Norrington-Davies (groin) and Jamie Shackleton (foot) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Burnley host Sheffield Utd at Turf Moor on Easter Monday 21 April at 5:30pm BST, live on ITV1 plus Sky Sports Football in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have won four of their last six meetings against Sheffield Utd (W4, L2).
- Sheffield Utd have failed to win any of their last six regular-season league visits to Burnley (D1, L5)
- Burnley have scored eight goals without conceding in their last three home games against Sheffield Utd (W3).
- Scott Parker’s Clarets have won three of their last four matches by 2-1 results (W3, D1).
- Four of Tyrese Campbell’s ten league goals for Sheffield Utd this season were scored away from home.
Prediction
With an opportunity to wrap up the automatic promotion race ahead of the final two matchdays, Burnley will be buoyed by how they fought back to beat Watford with two clinical headed goals from crosses after a sloppy conceded goal and there is no doubting how difficult James Trafford is to beat in goal.
Sheffield Utd meanwhile were simply dominant and clinical in their win over Cardiff following three consecutive defeats which will give them confidence, but they really need to step it up a gear if want to keep their automatic promotion dreams alive.
I however just can’t see Burnley losing this because they genuinely look just too strong across the pitch and in excellent form, but Chris Wilder’s Blades won’t make this easy.
Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Sheffield Utd
