Desperate for two points and eager to boost their NRR, Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision paid off early as Arshad Khan removed Abishek Porel in the second over. However, Karun Nair and KL Rahul steadied the innings, pushing the score to 52/1 by the end of the fourth over. Just as Rahul looked set, Prasidh Krishna broke through in the fifth over. The setbacks continued as Krishna struck again in the ninth, dismissing the well-set Karun Nair. With Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel at the crease, Delhi reached 105/3 at the halfway stage. As the pair built momentum, Mohammed Siraj struck in the 15th over to remove Stubbs. Prasidh continued his fiery spell, picking up four wickets and restricting Delhi to 188/6 by the 18th over. However, Ashutosh Sharma’s explosive 37 off 19 balls in the final stretch pushed the total to a competitive 203/8 in 20 overs.
In response, Gujarat Titans had a shaky start after an unfortunate run-out in the second over. However, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler steadied the innings, stitching a 60-run partnership to take the score to 73/1 by the seventh over. The breakthrough came in the eighth when Kuldeep Yadav weaved his magic and dismissed the well-set Sudharsan. But Buttler kept the momentum going, and with Sherfane Rutherford’s powerful hitting, GT raced to 128/2 in 13 overs, with Buttler reaching his half-century in just 32 balls. The duo showed no signs of slowing down, adding a 100-run stand and propelling the score to 165/2 in 16 overs. With 25 runs needed off the final three overs, Gujarat were firmly in control. Buttler remained composed at the crease, and eventually, it was Rahul Tewatia who sealed the win, as Gujarat defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets.
