Wrexham play Charlton at 5:30pm on Saturday, with Wycombe’s game against 6th place Leyton Orient earlier that day at 12:30pm.
James McClean said, per LeaderLive on the upcoming League One nail-biter: “Obviously it helps knowing the situation before kick-off but regardless of the result, we still have to do our job.
“It doesn’t matter if they win, lose or draw, we have to win our game.
“That has to be the main focus, not how Wycombe get on.
“Hopefully at 5.30pm on Saturday, The Racecourse is absolutely bouncing and the players can feed off that energy, we go and do the business and we hopefully win the game.”
McClean on potentially securing promotion this weekend: “Hopefully, fingers crossed that’s the case.
“But at the minute it’s all talk because we have to go out there and put that thought into action and deliver.
“To play the way with we did and to come away with a win at Blackpool, obviously it’s put us back in a great position now but that’s all it is,” added the wing-back.
“But we’ve been there before and at this stage of season there’s twists and turns, and you can’t take that for granted.
“We’ve still got to do the job in hand.”
On not getting ahead of themselves, per LeaderLive: “After the Burton game recently it was quite the opposite.
“Everyone was ‘Wrexham are promoted now’ and then after the game on Friday against Bristol Rovers, it was the opposite.
“We, the players and the staff, have to remain professional and do the best we can to block out that noise, and just go about doing our own job.
“If you had said at the start of the season with two games to go this is the position you would be in, you’d snap your hand off but talk is cheap.
“We have got to go and put that talk into action and get the job done.”
“There’s a lot of pressure at this stage of the season but pressure is a privilege because it means that there’s something expected of you,” he said.
“We have to see it that way and embrace it that way.
“Obviously winning at Blackpool and widening the gap eases that pressure but whatever thoughts we have, have to stay in-house and we have got to go and perform on the pitch.”
On his goal vs Blackpool: “I have seen it back a few times and it is definitely my goal. He’s not getting that!” said McClean, who celebrated his 36th birthday on Tuesday.
“It was overdue as well so I am delighted to score.
“I almost scored two before that. One was a great save and I haven’t seen the header back but I probably should have done better, I got too good a connection.
“It was third time lucky and it’s a nice birthday present.”
