Jonathan Tomkinson has enjoyed a positive run of form with Scottish Premiership club Ross County this spring and the defender could potentially stay there long-term because of it.
Ross County has expressed interest in signing Tomkinson to a permanent deal, sources confirmed to SBI. Tomkinson is on loan in Scotland for the remainder of the current season and will not return his parent club Norwich City.
The Canaries announced Monday that Tomkinson’s contract will expire this June.
Tomkinson, 23, has made nine appearances for Ross County this spring, logging 810 minutes of action. The former U.S. youth national team defender has been loaned out three times by Norwich City during his time at the club, spending time with lower-league English clubs Stevenage and Bradford City.
Tomkinson has made three senior appearances for Norwich City to date.
A Plano, Texas native, Tomkinson has yet to feature for the USMNT despite making seven appearances for the Under-23 squad.
Ross County has four matches remaining this season and is trying to stave off relegation from the Premiership.
