There will be one U.S. men’s national team player in the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinals.
Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis booked their spot into the final four after playing out a 1-1 second leg draw with Jagiellonia Bialystok. Cardoso came off the bench and played the final 19 minutes as the La Liga side advanced 3-1 past their Polish opponents.
The USMNT midfielder has continued to play a part in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s squad. Cardoso has been one of the top performers abroad this season and remains eligible in lifting silverware this spring.
Real Betis will prepare for face Serie A side Fiorentina in the semifinal round.
In Europe, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon suffered Europa League elimination.
In Mexico, Alex Zendejas and Club America lost at Monterrey. Cade Cowell and Chivas picked up three points at home.
