Five matches into her Chelsea career, U.S. women’s national team defender Naomi Girma is a WSL Champion.
Girma started and played 90 minutes as the Blues clinched the WSL title with a 1-0 road victory over Manchester United on Wednesday. The 24-year-old excelled in the match, completing 88% of her passes, winning all three of her individual duels, and making eight clearances.
Girma had only since returned to action on April 20 after missing over one month due to injury. The former San Diego Wave product made the move abroad this winter and has helped Chelsea pick up its second of three potential domestic trophies this season.
Chelsea will face Tottenham and Liverpool before taking on Manchester United once again on May 18, but this time in the Women’s FA Cup Final.
In Europe, Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis placed one foot into the Conference League Final.
