Chairman Mark Palios said: “Andy achieved everything I asked of him as Interim Manager, turning a team that was struggling for confidence into one which was very difficult to beat and, crucially, securing our place in the EFL.
“He led the team to some great results in the final quarter of the season, was bold in his decision making, tactics, and substitutions, and formed a great togetherness in the squad.
“He is well respected by the staff and has a fantastic drive to succeed, which I’m sure will serve us well.”
Andy added: “To represent this football club – and everything it stands for, including hard work, commitment, and unity – is something I’m extremely proud of.
“I’d like to personally thank all the players and staff, both at The Campus and at Prenton Park, for their support during my interim spell. Their dedication and professionalism have played a huge part in getting me to this point.
“I’d also like to thank the supporters. Their backing over the past few months has been outstanding, and I’m looking forward to continuing to strengthen that positive relationship.”
Twitter users reacted as Andy Crosby speaks for first time on becoming Tranmere’s new permanent manager…
@Gidsentinel: I’m so happy. The man deserves it. Hope he gets the backing and I trust him to treat us like he cares and treat the club like his own. Nice one
@addo163: Right decision and earned. Hope Mark appreciates that Crosby as well as the points he has correctly mentioned, Crosby also also rebuild a shattered connection with fans. Yes he managed the team well, but he’s leading the club. Excited for next season!
@BrianRobbo1969: Absolutely delighted with this news. 100% the correct appointment.
@fanfooty24: Really pleased with this!! 💯 earned his chance at this!! Let’s get the takeover sorted aswel now

Get rid of some dead wood ✅
Appoint manager ✅
Get rid of Palios ⏳
@pvfctv2: Great news. Top man is Crozzer and hopefully you can have a better season under him in the next campaign. #pvfc
@Dan_meadows07: I feel like crosby wouldn’t sign if he didnt know what’s going on with the takeover. Bigger and better things on the horizon hopefully 👀 #TRFC #SWA
@RicciTRFC: Good news. Now, would he have taken it without assurances? He’s spoken often of ambition and need for club to change on and off the pitch. Perhaps more good news to come? I was reluctant to give it Crosby at first, been burned every time we’ve given it to an assistant. But he won me round. Now hopefully he hasn’t been Paliosed like the rest of us & promised stuff that never happens 😂 With Crosby in place it gives me reassurance we won’t be fighting for our lives next season. However, if Palios remains we won’t be challenging at the other end, either. It goes beyond budgets, it’s reputation with agents, shifting goalposts, his data, etc #trfc #swa
@AlexHay2: Deserves his crack after saving us….says all the right things, been a breath of fresh air and means business! Worried about who is making the decisions but maybe we will get more information on that soon
@timjsbell: Fantastic. Fully deserves his opportunity in charge. Hopefully he will be backed in the summer and can continue where he left off. #TRFC #SWA
@trfc2019: Very pleased with the appointment. Just hope it’s not a case of putting it out to bury bad news, that LinkedIn post timing is very coincidental and we have done this before with announcements
@JJMartin_8: Wasn’t convinced on him until the final whistle at Newport really. Still have my reservations about the appointment given our previous when it comes to hiring interim managers but he has earned the chance to take the job so fair play
@BoyseygolfSWA: Regardless of what’s happening off the pitch a very positive appointment. Don’t think he’d sign without assurances and takeover or not the right choice to lead us forward 👏
