Barack Obama Praises Harvard For Rejecting Trump Admin’s Demands Tied To Antisemitism, DEI, & Mask Policies

Barack Obama is applauding #Harvard after the Ivy League pushed back against the Trump administration’s conditions for federal funding.

In an X post shared this week, Harvard wrote,

“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.”

Praising the university, Obama responded,

“Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.”

The Trump administration froze $2.2 billion in grants and $60 million in contracts after Harvard refused to eliminate DEI programs, implement a mask ban, and make changes to departments accused of “fueling antisemitic harassment.”
