Mattel has surprised Barbie fans world wide with their new release. Barbie is celebrating the NBA legend LeBron James with a look-a-like Barbie Doll. The doll is a part of the toy makers brand new series, the Barbie Signature Kenbassadors collection, and James is the series’ first ambassador!
James worked closely with Mattel, helping to create a realistic representation of his likeness. Even though the doll is the first of the Barbie Signature Kenbassadors collection, it has a broader meaning. The newest “Ken” is a part of a bigger collaboration with the toy giant and the LeBron James Family Foundation.
“I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to,” James said in a recent statement. “That’s why partnering with Barbie to release the LeBron James Kenbassadors doll is such an honor.”
The 40-year-old Los Angeles Lakers player shared a carousel of images of himself holding his “mini-me” on social media. He started off captioning the images, “Got me a mini me!!” He followed the start of his caption with two laughing emojis.
“Unbelievably cool and an honor to be part of the @barbie and @mattel family that continues to inspire the next generation. Lil Bron coming to a store near you!!! #thekidfromakron @ljfamfoundation @housethreethirty.”

In terms of James’ “Ken” doll’s fit, fans will unquestionably recognize some of the elements that Mattel worked closely with the athlete to bring to life. The doll captures James’ signature style, showcasing his “I Promise” band and iconic fanny pack.
Additionally, the doll is wearing a “We Are Family” shirt, giving a nod to his foundation, sunglasses, Nike Terminator High sneakers, a watch, varsity jacket, and is carrying Beats headphones. The varsity jacket represents various stages of James’ career including a 23 patch, a “We Are Family” patch, and an Ohio patch.

In celebration of their partnership with LeBron James, Barbie is donating to his foundation to help further its mission of supporting families in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Additionally, for every Barbie Signature LeBron James Kenbassador doll sold at Target—both online and in stores—from April 14 to 19, Barbie will donate a copy of James’ children’s book, “I Am More Than,” to Save the Children.
The LeBron James Kenbassador doll will be available at major retailers for $75 starting Monday, April 14.
