In a recent National Survey of Quality (NSQ) report, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) along with various state units has flagged serious concerns regarding the quality of pharmaceutical products in the market.
During random sampling conducted in the month of March, a total of 131 medicines were found to be of substandard quality. Alarmingly, one sample collected from West Bengal was identified as counterfeit.
In response to these findings, authorities have issued immediate instructions for the destruction of the entire affected batch and directed strict action in accordance with regulatory norms. The CDSCO has urged consumers and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or low-quality medicines.
This development highlights the urgent need for strengthened regulatory oversight and public awareness to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicines available to the public.
