Scottish leaders Celtic rolled to three points on Saturday with American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers scoring one of the better goals of the season.
Carter-Vickers scored Celtic’s fourth goal of Saturday’s 5-1 home league victory over Kilmarnock.
Reo Hatate opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’ squad before Daizen Maeda extended the Hoops lead to 2-0 two minutes later.
Carter-Vickers stepped up in the 21st minute and dialed his own number from long range, stroking a right-footed thunderbolt into the far left corner.
It marked Carter-Vickers’ first league goal of the season and his second overall in all competitions.
Hatate added his second goal of the match three minutes later, giving Celtic a 4-0 lead.
Daniel Armstrong pulled one goal back for Kilmarnock before halftime, but it barely made a dent in the hosts’ lopsided lead.
Anthony Ralston added an insurance goal for Celtic in second-half stoppage time.
Carter-Vickers has now made 39 appearances this season in all competitions for Celtic. He has remained a stalwart in the backline despite some injury hiccups earlier in the season.
Celtic returns to Scottish Cup play next weekend, traveling to St. Johnstone in semifinal action on April 20.
