Cassie Will Use Her Real Name, Not Anonymous, To Testify In Diddy’s Sex Trafficking Trial
Cassie will be taking the stand in her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs’ upcoming s*x trafficking trial using her legal identity.
A report from PEOPLE confirms that the model and songstress, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, has chosen not to testify anonymously, according to a court motion filed on April 1st.
The document reportedly stated that “Victim 1” would not testify anonymously in the case, which is set to begin on May 5th. Sources confirmed that “Victim 1” refers to Cassie.
Prosecutors had requested that anonymous victims be referred to using pseudonyms during the trial, and for the defense to refrain from revealing identifying details. They wrote in the motion:
“This case has already received an exceptional amount of media coverage, which will presumably only increase as the trial proceeds… Permitting these measures will prevent unnecessary public disclosure of the victims’ identities, and protect them from harassment, media scrutiny, undue embarrassment, and other adverse consequences that would almost certainly follow if their true names were made public at trial.”
However, they noted that Victim 1 (Cassie) is
“prepared to testify under her own name.”
Cassie’s bombshell lawsuit against Diddy sparked a legal storm for the media mogul, who now faces numerous abuse-related civil lawsuits in addition to a federal investigation.
Diddy has been incarcerated since September of last year and faces five counts of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Despite the serious allegations, he has continued to maintain his innocence.
