Two U.S. men’s national team players could etch their names into FA Cup history this May.
Chris Richards, Matt Turner and Crystal Palace advanced to the FA Cup Final after defeating Aston Villa 3-0 in semifinal action on Saturday. Richards started and played 90 minutes in the victory while Turner remained Palace’s No. 2 goalkeeper behind starter Dean Henderson.
Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 31st minute, giving Oliver Glasner’s squad a 1-0 halftime lead.
Ismailia Sarr, who assisted on Palace’s opening goal, would earn Man of the Match honors after scoring twice in the second half.
Aston Villa forced Henderson to make four saves, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Crystal Palace hung on for the victory, sealing their first trip to the tournament final since 2016.
Should the Eagles win the competition, it will mark the first time that a USMNT player had won the FA Cup. Former USWNT star Carli Lloyd achieved the feat with Manchester City.
Either Manchester City or Nottingham Forest will oppose Crystal Palace in May 17th’s Final.
