Fans praise Ange Postecoglou for a ‘truly incredible speech’ gone viral after Spurs make the UEL Final by beating Bodo/Glimt.
Goals from Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro against Bodo/Glimt help secure Tottenham’s place in the Europa League final, where they will face Man Utd in Bilbao.
Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs have chance to win first trophy since 2008, and after the semi final second leg game in midweek, you can see just how much it meant to him.

He said in the dressing room: “I’ve said it before that what you, as a group, players and staff have gone through this year… I’ve been in this game a long time, I’m very experienced, I’ve experienced it all, but I’m so proud of how all of you have just stuck together,” the Australian told his players.
“Not one time have I felt like people are not believing or have lost what we have in here, and it’s just outstanding. People will never realise what it’s taken for you guys to be in this position, and you deserve all the credit for that.
“It’s unbelievable what you’ve done. To come to this place, difficult place, win comfortably, but the whole time through, all the things we’ve had to deal with. There’s people who aren’t with us today, who are back home. Fraser [Forster] played a big part, Sonny’s played a big part, Madders, Lucas [Bergvall], Radu [Dragusin], they’ve all played a big part.
“Everyone’s contributed, and that’s the main thing that’s got us to this point. We’ve had problems for sure, but we’ve stuck together, and you deserve it. Now we’ve got two weeks, just under two weeks to prepare.
“Every day is important, every day, every training session, every game we have between now and then is about getting ready for that big game. You can change things, you saw what you did, 400 supporters here today, they’ll never forget it. There’s thousands back home, you can make it something really special.
“I keep saying to you, this is the group of players that are going to do it. So focus on that for now, but you deserve all the credit, it’s been outstanding. So from tomorrow we focus, yeah? Tonight [big celebrations].”
Postecoglou was asked in his post-match press conference if he echoed Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim’s sentiment that Europa League glory would not save his side’s season.
He hit back: “Why do I care what United think? Why is that relevant to me? Ask the Man Utd manager why he said that. Me, I’ve said all along that this is important.
“To be fair, you know better than me, you’ve probably followed more closely than I have. What do you think a trophy would do for this club? The question answers itself.
“But what’s happening right now is that people are fearing that. That it actually might happen.
“Because if it happens, [people will say] ‘let’s see how we can tear it down somehow, diminish it somehow by saying it’s been a poor season and that we don’t deserve this or don’t deserve that or by somehow comparing us to Man Utd.’”
Speaking to TNT Sports at full-time, Postecoglou said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the lads. We knew it was a difficult place to come with the weather they have here and the pitch, but the lads handled it really well.
“We fully deserved to get through after both legs and we’re excited. We’re in a final.”
He added: “You understand the context of what this football club has been trying to achieve for a long time.
“Managers come and go, players come and go, but the one constant is the supporters. There were 400 odd tonight, maybe a few more snuck in and it was great to see the smiles on their faces and I’m sure back home it was similar.
“We’ve given them some hope. Something to dream about. There’s an exciting trip coming up and a great experience. Who knows? Maybe we can do something special.”
Fans praise Ange Postecoglou for his ‘truly incredible speech’ gone viral after Spurs make the UEL Final…
@HLTCO: It must kill Spurs fans that their Premier League form has been so far below par because you hear stuff like this and realise why Postecoglou retains the faith of his players behind closed doors. Look at this as an example, Postecoglou has consistently rallied against the “Spursy” stereotype the media tend to push; as a fan of Tottenham, it must be fantastic to see a manager meeting all of that head on and calling it out.
@OCallaghanDavid: He’s still the man for the job imo – leagues been shit and he could have done better, but the injuries were ridiculous and it’s hard to shift that momentum, especially when there’s such quality in the league
@BiancaTHFC: Through highs and lows, the ups and downs, I bloody love this club with all of my heart 🩵 COYS 🩵
@LewysJamesNott: I’ve slated Ange for the shambolic season we’ve had, but this has sucked me right back in
@cole67_: Really hope Spurs win this trophy just so he can fuck off out the door with his middle finger at the club afterward.
@thfcjames1: Seems like such a top bloke honestly and been given so much shit off his owns fans would love him to win be the one to win us a trophy
@xAlexTHFC: Wanted him out for 6 months but will now run through a brick wall for him. That’s football
@danielbarrett87: Going to be an interesting final…. If this bloke pulls it off, who can doubt him #secondseasontrophy
@IsaacKimes: I’ve never seen a manager, in any sport, handle “gotcha” journos better than Ange. He just calls it how it is and they can’t handle it.
@simonyemane: If Ange wins a trophy after spending a the whole season saying he would while literally every person in the world was laughing at him it will be one of the coolest shit I’ve ever seen in sports.
@TamseIIicsonIII: Spurs haven’t won a trophy in 17 years, so I hope Ange wins the Europa League. I also hope that he hands in his resignation, steals the cup and chucks it in the Thames.
@White_Adam: Irrespective of what has happened or what might happen, what Ange has done to guide Spurs into the Europa final is amazing. No one can take that away from him. #COYS
@thfcesv2: We cannot understate the lengths he’s gone all season to defend the club and his players. Go and win that trophy Ange
@cammitchelll: Say what you want about him but I’d run through brick walls for the guy
We went to ET against Tamworth so we’d have extra astro preparation time for this game, Ange is playing chess not checkers, my manager 🫱🏻🫲🏼 pic.twitter.com/7S74xUcM2C
