Koodo Mobile is pushing some top-tier win-back deals lately. Earlier this month, we reported on Koodo offering some former customers a $20/30GB win-back deal. Now, we’ve gotten reports of Koodo sending customers a $25/60GB win-back deal.
A MobileSyrup reader shared with us a stellar win-back deal they got from the Telus-owned wireless provider after leaving Telus for Rogers. The reader said they left Telus after the company buried a roughly 11 per cent price increase in fine print on a bill statement and nabbed a $39/50GB plan from Rogers.
A week later, Koodo called him with the $25/60GB win-back offer. But what really sealed the deal was that the plan included 5G data. The plan also includes unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting as well as 1,250 long-distance minutes to the U.S., India, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Italy, Mexico, and Australia.
Koodo’s in-market plans are limited to 4G data speeds, which Koodo caps to 100Mbps. The provider previously offered 5G options with speeds capped at up to 250Mbps, but it removed those plans last year. While Koodo doesn’t readily offer 5G plans, it does occasionally make them available to existing customers.
Overall, this plan from Koodo is a really great deal. The $25/60GB plan would have been good either way, but the addition of 5G speed makes it even better. To put the plan in perspective, Koodo’s closest in-market plan is $39/60GB 4G. So not only does this win-back deal save $14/mo, it also boosts the data speed considerably.
Looking beyond Koodo, Public Mobile probably has the closest options with $26/20GB 4G and $35/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico options. In my eyes, the Koodo win-back deal comes out ahead compared to both of those options unless you travel to the U.S. and/or Mexico a lot.
This serves as yet another reminder that switching providers frequently is one of the best ways to get big savings. Carriers continue to offer excellent wireless deals in an effort to get customers to come back after they leave. So the next time your provider ticks you off, switch.
Thanks Kevin!
