Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar is looking to build his “race experience” with the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix’s sprint weekend format.
Hadjar enjoyed a positive debut weekend in Australia until he spun out on the formation lap of the race in “tricky” wet conditions with “very low grip and poor confidence”, which left him “embarrassed” but he vowed to “learn from my mistake and apologise to the team.”
The Frenchman therefore felt pleased that the second round of this season is a sprint weekend compromising of a sprint race on top of the main GP, with a feeling that he is “still lacking race experience”, with the format allowing him to “… have the short race to get a feel for it before the main one.”
Hadjar though is more optimistic about the weekend as a whole than he was ahead of the Australian GP weekend, where he surprised many with his competitiveness in short runs and Qualifying.
“Heading to China, I feel more confident than I did a week ago when I was going to Australia. In Melbourne, I immediately felt comfortable with the car on short runs and in Qualifying, which was one of the targets we had established, based on what we saw at the Bahrain test.”
