The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), an industry body representing traders, expects Holi festival-related business to cross the Rs 60,000 crore, translating to a 20 per cent increase over the business recorded in relation with the previous Holi. In the national capital alone, the business it estimated to amount to more than Rs 8,000 crore, according to CAIT.

- Similar to the trend witnessed in the past years, traders and customers alike have boycotted Chinese Goodson the run-up to the Holiday festival, said Secretary General and BJP MP from Chandni Chowk Praveen Khandelwal.
- Only Indian-made items such as herbal colors, gulal, water guns, balloons, sandalwood, pooja materials, apparel are being sold extensively, according to Khandelwal.
- Additionally, items like sweets, dry fruits, gift items, flowers and fruits, clothing, furnishing fabrics, groceries, FMCG products and consumer durables are in high demand across markets, he said.
- Khandelwal also said that several business sectors are witnessing a spike in Holi-related sales thanks to higher consumer spending.
- For playing Holi with colors, people are demanding white T-shirts, kurta-pajamas, and salwar suits, while T-shirts with the words ‘Happy Holi’ printed on them are also witnessing steady demand.
- Holi is expected to stimulate economic activities, benefiting local businesses, small traders, small-scale industries, and the MSME sector in particular, said Khandelwal.
- Holi 2025 will also prove to be highly beneficial for traders and retailers across the country, he said.
- Large-scale Holi celebrations are taking place across Delhi and the entire country, leading to high demand for venues, and as a result, banquet halls, farmhouses, hotels, restaurants, and public parks are fully booked for Holi events. “More than 3,000 Holi Milan celebrations of varying scales are being organised in Delhi alone, bringing visible joy and enthusiasm among the people,” said Khandelwal.
- With Holi approaching, Delhi’s wholesale and retail markets are completely decorated and stocked, with heavy footfall across shops especially for products like gulal and water guns, he said, adding that sweet shops are experiencing a massive surge in sales as expected.
- Consumers are favoring herbal gulal and natural colors over chemical-based ones, while the markets are flooded with a host of special Holi items this year with pressure-based water guns priced at Rs 100-350 and tank-style water guns at Rs 100-400.
