DC vs GT: The Gujarat Titans management has not disclosed any details on Kagiso Rabada‘s unavailability, as no reasons for his sudden return home have been revealed to any source.
The Titans’ assistant coach, Ashish Kapoor, reported that Kagiso Rabada might be returning to partake in the remaining half of the IPL this season, maybe ahead of the DC vs GT match; hence, the franchise has refrained from naming any replacement for the Protea pacer.
Rabada was bought by the Gujarat Titans for a huge INR 10.75 crores in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He played in two games for the Titans this season, the starting game against Punjab Kings and the home game against the Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad, and his return is under scrutiny ahead of the DC vs GT clash.
Rabada, after the two games, left mid-season as the GT management revealed that he had to return home due to personal reasons concerned with his family. Ashish Kapoor said Rabada might be in line for a return to join the squad, though nothing has been said on the probable date of his return.
Gujarat Titans will play their next game in the IPL against the Delhi Capitals on their home ground. In Rabada’s absence, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have done a great job for the Titans, picking 20+ wickets between them.
DC vs GT: Gujarat Titans announced Dasun Shanaka as Glenn Phillips’ replacement for IPL 2025

New Zealand star all-rounder Glenn Phillips was picked by the Gujarat Titans, though he did not feature in any of the games. He was brought onto the field to field at one instance, but the acrobatic fieldsman injured himself within 10 minutes on the field and had to make an exit.
Phillips underwent scans and was reported to have missed most of his competition; hence, Dasun Shanaka was named as the replacement. Shanaka has starred earlier for the Titans, as the former Sri Lankan skipper is an impactful all-rounder down the order.
“We picked Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for Glenn Phillips, but I don’t know about the replacement for Kagiso Rabada, that’s news to me. We are just waiting for him, he might just return. There is a chance that he might join, but he has got some family problem, for which he has gone,”, GT Assistant Coach Kapoor said ahead of the weekend clash against DC.
