The Houston Astros have been a legitimate championship contender for the better part of the last decade. However, up until their most recent series, the Astros were limping along throughout the first two weeks of the 2025 season.
Houston opened its weekend series with the red-hot Angels sitting at 5-7 and at the bottom of the American League West. But after taking two from Los Angeles and claiming only its second series win of the young season, it’s possible the Astros are posed to go on a run and climb up the standings.
Houston’s bats also finally came alive against the Angels, and it all started with its best offensive performance of the season on Friday. Houston unloaded on the Angels to the tune of 14-3.
Isaac Paredes, one of Houston’s new comers this season, went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and a solo shot. Yainer Diaz sent five runners home — he had only one RBI on the year before his offensive explosion.
