
LSG vs RR: Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson struggled while batting in their previous game, as he had to leave the field owing to discomfort with abdominal pain. RR head coach Rahul Dravid could not confirm the availability of skipper Samson ahead of the game against LSG in IPL 2025.
He clearly stated in the pre-matchday conference that the captain has experienced abdominal pain and has undergone scans, while the reports of the scans will decide on his availability. Samson, in the final over of the powerplay, took Vipraj Nigam for runs, and in an attempt to play a cut short, he experienced the first pull to his left ribs. He got retired hurt for the score of 31* and could not come out to bat despite the game slipping into the super-over.
In the post-match interview against Delhi Capitals, after a disappointing defeat, the skipper Samson himself claimed that “It feels alright (his injury). I wasn’t just ready to come back and bat. It feels alright now. We will observe it tomorrow and see how it is.”

With their net run rate also being relatively low, they need to secure wins in most of their remaining games. Considering two wins already, RR still has 7 matches left and will have to win at least 6 of their games, as a minimum of 8 wins is essential for qualification.
Riyan Parag, who might step in as RR’s stand-in skipper in the absence of Sanju Samson, has led them previously in the contest and has a record of winning one of the 3 games he starred in for the Royals as their skipper. The win came on his home ground at Guwahati.
