Kaley Cuoco is headed back into dangerous territory—this time, somewhere between Paris and the South of France. The Emmy-nominated star of The Flight Attendant and The Big Bang Theory has been tapped to lead Vanished, a new thriller series poised to make waves at this year’s Series Mania TV market in Lille, France.
A sharp pivot back into high-stakes suspense, Vanished follows Alice (Kaley Cuoco), whose idyllic romantic getaway unravels into a nightmare after her boyfriend Tom (played by Peaky Blinders star Sam Claflin) mysteriously disappears aboard a train. What begins as a missing person’s case quickly spirals into a layered web of secrets, danger, and deception—a landscape Cuoco has navigated with increasing nuance in recent roles.
The series is already generating early buzz, not just for its leading duo, but for its impressive international cast. French cinema heavyweight Karin Viard (winner of three César Awards) and German star Matthias Schweighöfer (Valkyrie, Oppenheimer, Army of the Dead) round out the ensemble, signaling a cross-border production with global ambition.
Behind the camera is director and producer Barnaby Thompson (Pixie), with filming set to kick off April 28 in Paris and Marseilles. The show is created by David Hilton and Preston Thompson (who also scripts), and backed by Stuart Ford’s AGC Television—known for The Tinder Swindler and Those About to Die—which will fully finance and co-produce.
A co-production deal with Germany’s ARD Degeto is in the works, and with Series Mania serving as its launchpad, Vanished looks set to be one of the market’s most in-demand titles. Slick, international, and led by an ensemble talent who’s made an art of unravelling on screen, Vanished might just be the next must-watch thriller to disappear into.
