TalkEsport’s reporting indicates that a court order from the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Malshiras, directed police to investigate the complaint after initial inaction. This followed Torane’s submission of proof that his complaint had been previously ignored by local police.
In response, Krafton India has filed two writ petitions in the Bombay High Court, challenging the FIR and seeking to halt the investigation. The High Court has combined the petitions and issued notices to the respondents.
This case raises critical questions about data protection and corporate accountability within India’s growing digital gaming sector. If the allegations are proven, Krafton could face significant legal and reputational consequences. Furthermore, this case highlights potential systemic issues regarding the handling of cybercrime complaints. The Bombay High Court’s decision could set a significant precedent for digital privacy enforcement in India.
