Luton Town fans taunt Leeds United with chant, plus there was a howler for Coventry with Frank Lampard sent off after a win for Burnley.
The Clarets go top of the Championship table with a 2-1 victory over Coventry, but for Leeds, they were held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Luton. Sheffield United also lost at Oxford.
Burnley make it 27 games unbeaten and picked up a precious win to end Coventry’s four-game winning streak at home.
Jaidon Anthony’s double, the first an early finish from Josh Cullen’s cut-back, the second a cool finish after a calamitous mistake from Coventry keeper Brad Collins and defender Liam Kitching seconds after the break, securing the points after Haji Wright had given the hosts a controversial lead inside five minutes.
After the final whistle, Coventry fans and players have swarmed around ref James Bell with Lampard has clearly saying something to earn himself a red card from the official.
Bell left the pitch to loud chants questioning his suitability to officiate at football matches, with four Burnley players booked and two Coventry ones, in addition to that red card for the manager.
Meanwhile at Kenilworth Road, it was just one win in six for Leeds now, ending the weekend outside the top two in the Championship.
A draw hasn’t done all that much for Luton’s bid to climb out of trouble at the bottom of the table but it’s 11 points from their past half dozen matches for the Hatters.
Isaiah Jones put the hosts ahead, with Luton fans heard singing “Leeds are falling apart again” before Dan James bent home a leveller, with the second half disappointing.

Oh deary me. Luton winning and fans singing: Leeds are falling apart again. Burnley now second. #LTFC #LUFC #EFL pic.twitter.com/UTJ7vj7VO2

Really fearing for Leeds. Three draws in a row against sides in the bottom half. Down to third now. #LUFC #MOT pic.twitter.com/vm3oTiRr3R

Burnley sit pretty at the summit while Leeds fall out of the automatic promotion places after a run of just one win from their last six games.
Sheffield United failed to reclaim top spot after losing to Oxford.
Coventry City assistant coach Joe Edwards told BBC Radio CWR:
“I’m here because Frank was sent off which I’ve just been informed of as we came off the pitch.
“Frank’s received the red card, I’m not entirely sure what for to be honest with you. Obviously there was a bit of frustration from everyone in the stadium and it’s boiled over and Frank’s been punished.
“The last thing I want to do is get punished myself by speaking too much.
“When you concede a goal like that against a Burnley side who are capable of shutting up shop, the big marker is what’s the reaction going to be like and that was the positive thing for us because for the remaining 30 minutes of the game, the game was played in Burnley’s half.”
Burnley boss Scott Parker told BBC Radio Lancashire:
“[A] massive result for us. First and foremost we’ve come to a really tough place, the stadium was bouncing today, so we knew the challenge ahead of us and I thought we were superb today.”
On the winning goal: “Great goal in terms of the timing of it in the second-half but one goal in this league – nine times out of 10 – and the match turns out how it turned out. For 15[the last] minutes, any coach standing here suggesting there is a tactical element, there isn’t, it’s time to dig deep.”
On Coventry’s goal: “It was puzzling really. I’m not level with the play, I’m standing in this box, you can instantly tell something didn’t look right. That was very, very night and day – our reaction was superb but a little bit disappointed in that one.
“This division is highly competitive. To be 27 matches unbeaten is something to be really proud of, hopefully we continue that.”
Twitter users reacted as Luton fans taunt Leeds with chant; and a howler for Coventry as Burnley come from behind to win…
@TheStatsSaint: Do I say it?
@JustSaints_: 😂
@TheBurnleyWay: Play Joy Division
@luciusthe3rd: Long ball over the top clearly doesn’t work so why are we doing that? #lufc
@gracescaffyorks: De ja vu of last season 😩 #lufc
@Junderwood_19: Regardless of how this season goes, this manager cannot be our manager next season. #lufc
@MWardy21: End of season capitulation once again…. First month of upheaval was blamed last year even though we caught both Ipswich and Leicester up. What the excuse this season? We’re bottling it again…. Shirt is too heavy I’m afraid. #lufc
@Centrojas: Same story as last year, the team peaks between December and March and then falls apart, the responsibility of Farke and the management for sleeping in January. #lufc
@JamesPearson25: Utter garbage, didn’t deserve it. Been largely awful since Blades away. Can’t convert half chances #lufc
@Scotlufc: 5 minutes to go in a must win and he’s brought 3 defenders on, sack him tonight. Cost us last season and he’s done it again this season, absolutely clueless. #lufc
@piroepartyy: Don’t worry guys farke is 100% sure we will get promoted
@leegrecruiter: This team hasn’t got the heart for play offs. We lose the heart of this team after this season and will be a shadow of a team. This is heart breaking and I am sorry it’s on farke #lufc
@harveycd_writer: I don’t like to overreact but I’d get someone new in and give them the last few games of the season…if they get us up great….if they don’t it’s prep for next season #lufc
@GM1919T: Brining on defenders ahead of Ramazani when drawing against a team in the bottom 3. The decision making is absolutely baffling. #lufc
@PremierLeedsMOT: Embarrassing how we have allowed this to happen again. Have to look at the manager and his decision making just like last season tbh. No way we finish top 2 now and that looked nailed on 5 games ago.
@Craigkitch28489: Another pathetic performance against an abysmal team. Imagine needing a goal and bringing Byram, Schmidt & Aaronson on but leaving ramazani on the bench.
@shandisco: Shambles. Sleepwalking into the playoffs. Simply not good enough. No fight. #lufc
@Ross__Pearce: That performance was truly awful. This team is done I’m afraid! The manager has completely lost the plot!
@OTbobb:
Should have started Bamford!,
If Sheffield wins that’s it for Leeds.
No way this is gonna happen twice ,
You were 7points clear
Sack Farkee
@EssexYorkie: Bottle jobs!!!! Most of our said best players couldn’t cut it in the Premier league as they can’t handle pressure. Farke as usual couldn’t tactically untie his own shoes. Drastic changes need doing now!!!
