Miron Muslic says Sheffield Wednesday forced Plymouth fans to ‘turn their back’ on their side as they fell to another defeat.
The Argyle head coach said that his players are struggling to handle the pressure of their relegation fight having been comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by Sheffield Wednesday, and lost 2-0 at relegation rivals Hull City on Tuesday.
The result leaves Plymouth bottom of the Championship table with 30 points from 36 games played, six points from safety.
“We simply could not could not deal with the pressure and that’s the reality,” Muslic said to BBC Radio Devon.
“But from this point we also have to move on because our task is tough and my task as head coach is always to protect this team.
“I protected them just one-and-a-half months ago against after a very difficult moment for us – Burnley – and we found the right ingredients and the right approach to turn this for us.
“I think we are in a very similar situation right now and we want to try to do the same again to support, to protect, so we can take a little bit of this pressure away from the lads and we can move on.”
“I felt today the Green Army turned their back on us,” he said.
“A lot of people left the stadium, and I cannot blame them. It’s up to us to make them come, to make them stay and to make them support.
“I think this is something that we have to come together again, and I know those kind of nights are very difficult, but it’s part of this beautiful game.
“Pressure is part of it and we have to face this, not hide, face this, and we have to get up again and try again.
“We as staff will try everything possible to protect the team and to give them a chance to try again.”
Sheffield Wednesday head coach Danny Rohl had been left impressed by his side putting a stop to their poor run of form.
“Except for the first six or 10 minutes I think we dominated the game against a difficult one,” Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield.
“How they play, their structure against the ball, it’s not easy to create so many opportunities.
“But we controlled the game, kept the ball in the right areas, we were aggressive against the ball and our counter-pressing was much, much better.
“I must say at first the back four, and then the back five, did a good job today.
“It was important that we kept a clean sheet today, even after going 3-0 up, and in the end we could have scored four or five goals – we had some good chances.”

Twitter users reacted as Miron Muslic says Sheffield Wednesday forced Plymouth fans to ‘turn their back’ on their side…
@vbtspafc: Going the same way as foster this. Schumacher was the choice. Board have totally fucked this up and I hope it hits them in the pocket. Corporate sales will be the first to drop
@MaccaSouth: Is Muslic feeling it? In his reaction he said “the fans gave up on us today” and that we play like this because of “pressure” when all along he’s said “pressure is a privilege” The lengths we go to supporting argyle that’s a bit of a low blow IMO. #pafc
@kernow_argyle: 1 month ago we beat Liverpool and Muslic was the ‘messiah’ fast forward to today and seems half the fan base has turned on him. Don’t get me wrong the footballs been shocking! But the cards he’s been dealt with are equally bad. Back him and let him rebuild for league 1 #pafc
@CxdyWood: Not digging Muslic out entirely, but it’s not the response we were hoping for after WR. Other than the FA Cup run, it’s been nothing more than shite. Kills me to think where we’d be & how we’d be playing if we just re-appointed Schuey in Jan. #pafc
@joshuac87384744: Get us back down to league 1 asap. Not convinced Muslic is the man to bring us back up, but at least back him in the summer, get rid of some of these wankers that are pretending to be argyle players, get his players in – see where it take us #pafc
@__jacksharp10: ‘Muslic doesn’t have players to suit his style’ – May be true but off current evidence a side MM builds to play ‘his brand’ may be one of the most unwatchable football teams ever. It’s a results business of course but also an entertainment one – and this football is vile. #pafc
@PilgrimPetey:
Muslic = Talks a good game!!!
Attack = Piss Poor Pathetic!!
Midfield = 2 Headless chickens!!
Defence A bloody mess!!
Style of play = Long ball Shite!!
How I’m feeling = Pure and utter Anger!!⚽️💚 #pafc
@Deanr87: Some 5 year plan the club had. And it all went south. Schumacher leaving. Appointing foster. Appointing Rooney. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to Muslić because he ain’t had a full transfer window and he came in to try and clear the damage that Rooney left #pafc
@PL23DQ: Nice words, again but no change of tactics, no left-field (to suit his appointment) ideas to change the game, just like for like subs. The mentality to win games comes from the manager, once again it didn’t happen. Foster, Rooney and now Muslic are all much the same.
@ZacThomson13: There was no “big chances” bundus shot was 25 yards out was never going in
@jamesrice_72: Questions have to be asked Dickinson, the board and muslic ! #pafc
@Charlie72169993: Say what you want about Muslic but… This is not his fault, it’s a tricky task. Get behind him next season, full pre season, signings made and maybe the football could be improved. We play shit cause we are in a relegation battle with a shit squad. This is Hallett’s fault. #pafc
@CarlBarnard15: Resigned to league 1 now sadly. Far too many poor performances against teams around us lately and again we’ve reverted to not fighting for the shirt. We go down, build stronger give Muslic the tools to get us competitive again, this isn’t on Miron this relegation. #pafc
@DevonportDreams: Four absolutely honking league performances in a row. Muslic has to come under serious scrutiny for this, it’s some of the worst football I’ve seen – worse than Rooney and Foster #pafc
@PAFC_TB: Questions need to be asked of Muslic. #pafc
