Following directives from Inspector General (IG) National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Riffat Mukhtar Raja, authorities have intensified their efforts to curb overspeeding. A campaign launched by NHMP’s Central Region led to the registration of FIRs against 155 drivers, resulting in multiple arrests.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, 62 cases were filed on M-5 Multan-Sukkur Motorway for exceeding speed limits. On M-4 Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway, 22 FIRs were registered, while 39 cases were recorded on M-2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. Similarly, 16 FIRs were lodged on M-3 Lahore-Multan Motorway, and another 16 on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway.
Sector commanders are now closely monitoring traffic violations to ensure strict enforcement of speed regulations. Earlier, on March 16, 2025, authorities had taken action against 54 drivers who breached the 150 km/h speed limit across major motorways, including M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5, and Lahore-Sialkot.
NHMP spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad reaffirmed that the crackdown aims to enhance road safety and prevent accidents caused by reckless driving.
