Virat Kohli beats Rohit Sharma in a record
Virat Kohli has created another IPL record, becoming the first batter to score 1,000 boundaries in the league. He achieved this feat against Delhi Capitals, adding three boundaries to his tally of 998. Kohli now leads the chart, followed by Shikhar Dhawan (920), David Warner (899), Rohit Sharma (885), and Chris Gayle (761). Interestingly, Kohli doesn’t hold the record for most fours (Dhawan has 768) or sixes (Gayle has 357). Kohli holds multiple IPL records, including most runs (8190), most runs for a team (8190), most hundreds (8), and most runs in a season (973). Read more here.

MS Dhoni – CSK captain!
MS Dhoni will take over as CSK captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow fracture ruled him out of IPL 2025. Gaikwad had a poor season, scoring 122 runs in 5 matches, and CSK’s batting has been struggling. Dhoni’s return as captain could bring stability, but the team needs to find a replacement for Gaikwad’s batting spot. Yes, Dhoni will now lead CSK for the first time since 2023! Fine on Sanju Samson!
Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has been fined Rs 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against Gujarat Titans (GT), marking the team’s second offence in IPL 2025. The rest of the players, including the impact substitute, will be fined Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee. RR slumped to a 58-run defeat, with GT posting 217/6 thanks to Sai Sudharshan’s 82-run knock. RR’s bowlers struggled, except for Jofra Archer, who dismissed Shubman Gill early. Pakistan’s ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan might quit his role after being rested from the recent New Zealand T20I series. Rizwan, who took over as captain in 2024, has an 8-9 winning record but is unhappy with being dropped from the T20I side and disagreements with head coach Aaqib Javed. Rizwan wants more say in selecting the playing XI, but Javed has control over team selection. If Rizwan’s demands aren’t met, he might resign as ODI captain.
