Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has raised toll tax rates for vehicles traveling on major highways and motorways by 15% to 50%, effective from April 1, 2025. This marks the second toll increase in less than three months, following a previous hike on January 5, 2025.
The revised tolls apply to several key motorways and national highways, including the M1, M3, M4, M5, M14, and E35. Vehicle tolls have undergone a rise where cars now pay Rs70 instead of Rs60 and vans together with jeeps now require the payment of Rs150 instead of Rs100. Buses will now pay Rs250 for every trip instead of their previous Rs200 rate and two or three axle truck owners must pay Rs300 as their new toll amount rather than the previous Rs250.
The price for articulated trucks has increased from Rs500 to Rs550. Major motorway tolls received new adjustments from multiple vehicle classes including cars. The M1 Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway toll operators have escalated the car tolls to Rs550 with enhanced fees for large vehicles set at these rates:
- Wagon (12-seater): Rs850
- Minibus (13-15 seaters): Rs1,150

Passengers on the E35 Hasan Abdal-Havelian-Mansehra Motorway must pay Rs300 after the toll rate increased from Rs250. The charging system for bigger commercial vehicles includes fees from Rs850 up to Rs5,750 according to their classification and transit route selection.
Senior NHA authorities state that the cost adjustments align with ongoing infrastructure improvements coupled with maintenance costs. However, they have not elaborated with specific details about the increases in toll fee rates.
