Prasidh Krishna’s return to form bodes for India ahead of the 5-test tour of England.
The Rajasthan Royals came up against a familiar foe and settled for a defeat on Wednesday. Prasidh Krishna, who played for the Royals in the past, bowled a match-winning spell to lead his new franchise, the Gujarat Titans, to win in Ahmedabad.
Prasidh humbles Royals in Ahmedabad
Prasidh Krishna was on top form as he helped the Gujarat Titans defend at home against the Rajasthan Royals. On a surface that added pace and bounce, the Karnataka pacer made full use of the conditions to peg the Royals back. While the visitors were struggling, Prasidh put a further dent on their hopes of a chase with the wicket of Sanju Samson. Samson and Hetmyer were motoring along well, before the the RR captain hit one straight down to Sai Kishore.
He returned later in the innings, getting Shimron Hetmyer after the left-hander scored a fighting half-century. He added another to his name, as Jofra Archer miscued one to Shubman Gil. He was the pick of the bowlers, taking both of RR’s top scorers, while also keeping runs at a minimum.
Krishna’s performance will certainly hurt the Royals, who let him go ahead of the IPL 2025 season. He was part of the Rajasthan side for three seasons, picking up 19 wickets in 17 games in his first season. However, he missed the next two seasons due to a lumbar stress fracture and then a quad injury. Gujarat still put their faith in him, splashing Rs 9.5 crore for the Karnataka speedster. So far this season, he has 8 wickets in 5 games, with a miserly economy of 7.05.
Prasidh key for India tour of England
Prasidh Krishna has long been considered one of India’s finest fast bowling talents across formats since he broke onto the scene. However, injuries have so far derailed in what is a promising career. Krishna will be a key part of India’s plans for the tour of England. The Karnataka ace was part of India’s Border Gavaskar Trophy squad, and will be hoping to add to his 8 Test caps.
