Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge was initially expected to launch in mid-April, with leaks suggesting an April 15 unveiling.
However, new reports indicate that Samsung has pushed back the release by a month or two, meaning the phone may now debut in May or June instead.
The delay is reportedly linked to recent unexpected events at Samsung and in South Korea.
One reason could be the passing of Han Jong-hee, Samsung Electronics’ Vice President, earlier this month.
Another possible factor is the political situation in South Korea, with President Yoon Seok-yeol facing impeachment later this week.
However, the delay is not due to any quality issues with the Galaxy S25 Edge, meaning the phone is still expected to be in top shape when it eventually launches.
Samsung has already informed mobile carriers in South Korea about the new timeline.
Instead of an in-person launch event, the company is now planning to reveal the Galaxy S25 Edge through an online event, where it will officially announce the phone’s specifications, price, and release date.
This approach is similar to how Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition last year.
The delay is unlikely to harm Samsung’s sales, as pushing the launch to May or June could give Samsung a better opportunity to build hype and capture consumer attention.
Once launched, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be Samsung’s slimmest phone yet.
Leaks suggest it will measure just 5.8mm thick while still housing a 4,000mAh battery. The phone is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch display and a dual-camera setup on the back.
Samsung is likely to offer the device in three colors and with storage options of 256GB and 512GB.
Samsung reportedly plans to manufacture around 3 million units of the Galaxy S25 Edge this year, which will make up about 10 percent of the total Galaxy S25 series sales.
