According to a recent CNN article, there are more than 1 million (!!) international students in the United States, with the greatest number of students coming from countries such as China, India, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Students may come to the US for college and/or graduate school for a wide variety of reasons, but perhaps the biggest reason is that the US is home to some of the greatest and most highly valued universities across the globe.
Earning a degree from a US college or university prepares international students to either work towards employment in the US or to head back to their home country with a degree under their belt that has a strong international reputation.
However, one of the biggest downfalls to earning a degree in the US is that it can be very expensive, and that’s without the additional costs that international students must cover for things like obtaining a student visa and health insurance, and plane tickets to travel home throughout the year (just to name a few).
