Scotland meet Greece in the second leg of their League A/B promotion-relegation play-off in 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
After Scott McTominay’s penalty sealed a 1-0 aggregate win in the first leg, Scotland will stay in League A if avoid defeat here.
Greece simply need to win by at least a two-goal margin if want to secure promotion to League A, although victory by an one-goal margin will send the tie to extra time and potentially penalties.
Team News
Scotland have no fresh injury or suspension issues to report following the first leg, with a full squad available for selection.
Greece too have no fresh injury or suspension issues to report with a full squad available for selection.
When is Kick-Off?
Scotland host Greece at Hampden Park on Sunday 23 March at 5pm GMT, live on BBC Scotland in Scotland plus BBC Two for rest of UK.
Stat Attack
- Scotland won their only previous Nations League meeting against Greece by a 1-0 result in the away leg of this tie.
- Greece are making their first Nations League away visit to Scotland.
- All three previous meetings between Scotland and Greece in all competitions have ended in 1-0 results of which the Tartan Army won two of those three fixtures.
- Scotland have kept clean sheets in their last two home games (W1, D1).
- Christos Tzolis has scored in two of Greece’s last three away games (W3), during which the Greeks scored twice in all three matches.
Prediction
Having dug deep defensively in the second half to grind out a narrow away win in the first leg after a contrastable dominant first-half display where they looked energetic and full of confidence, even if they needed a penalty to get the win as they might just need to be strong in their open-play end product here to get the job done.
Greece though will take heart from their second-half dominance because if they start this away leg like they finished at home, you have to wonder how long before they can find the net as the first goal could well be key given that this fixture has ended in 1-0 results on all three occasions.
Home advantage and a slender lead though makes me think that Scotland could get the job done if defend well here and are clinical once more.
Prediction: Scotland 1-1 Greece
Result: Scotland 0-3 Greece (Scotland relegated to League B and Greece promoted to League A)
