“The Sixth Sense” star Haley Joel Osment was arrested at a Mammoth Lakes, California ski lodge earlier this month for alleged public intoxication and possession of an unidentified controlled substance, according to multiple media outlets, including TMZ and People.
The 37-year-old was arrested at a parking lot for The Mill, one of the so-called base lodges at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, around 2 p.m. on April 8. A local police source told People on Wednesday that they had received a call reporting his alleged “unruly conduct.”
Sergeant Jason Heilman of the Mammoth Lakes Police Department told the outlet Wednesday that Osment, best known for his role in “The Sixth Sense” as a clairvoyant child who can see dead people, “was booked and is no longer in custody.”
Osment was previously charged in 2006 with misdemeanor drunk driving at 18. He reportedly pleaded no contest at the time to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of possession of marijuana, receiving three years of probation.
The local police source who confirmed his alleged unruliness Wednesday said the controlled substance authorities claim to have found on Osment earlier this month is currently “presumed to be cocaine.” They added that law enforcement has since “sent it for testing.”
“We will have the results soon,” the source told People.

Osment was only 10 years old while filming opposite Bruce Willis in M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Sixth Sense.” He went on to star in Steven Spielberg’s “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (2001).
Like many Hollywood stars, Osment lost his home in the California wildfires earlier this year.
“It’s been an extremely difficult month,” his sister Emily shared at the time. “Thank you to everyone that has reached out to my family in the wake of the fires. Devastated for my mother and my father and my brother who lost their homes in the Altadena fire.”
She added, “We will rebuild. We are so strong, even stronger than we could ever imagine.”
