IPL 2025: Week 2 of the tournament saw a few new names rise to the fore, and the most prominent among those were Digvesh Singh Rathi and Sai Kishore.
IPL can make unknown players into overnight stars, and the 17 seasons prior to the current edition saw just that. Classic examples are Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson.. among a long list of names. The trend has continued in IPL 2025 as well, and a few Indian youngsters have a made a certain impact on the tournament, and have become the most sought-after players for their franchises.
InsideSport takes a look at these relatively less talked-about players, who have had massive impact on their team’s performance, albeit only in the second week of IPL 2025. While a few names could be debatable, what can’t be debated is, the strong efforts by these players.
Digvesh Rathi, a Future India Star?
After almost five games for each team, if one had to pick a player who would certainly make it to the Indian team in near future, or could be considered, it has to be spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi. While everyone was fretting over speedster Mayank Yadav’s fitness; Rathi has just surpassed the need to have Mayank in the team.
In five matches he has 7 wickets, at an economy of 7.75 only. What has stood out is, his aggressive approach — and has been fined twice for his notebook celebration. But he is finding ways to be in the news, and in the eyes of the national selectors. He was superb in matches vs PBKS (2/30), and MI (1/21) in the second week.
Sai Kishore Sees Surge in Stocks in IPL 2025
Remember the stand-off Sai Kishore had against MI skipper Hardik Pandya. That was just a statement, that “I need to be in the Indian team”. And why not. This year, he has picked up 10 wickets in 5 matches, and his economy has been excellent at 7.25. There is no reason why he can’t finish IPL 2025 with the purple cap.
In the second week, GT and Sai played against SRH and was brilliant with his 2/24 in a winning cause, where he got rid of Nitish Reddy and Heirich Klaasen.
Nehal Wadhera Overpowering Strong PBKS Batting
Punjab Kings has one of the best batting line-ups in the IPL 2025, but then out of all of them, Nehal Wadhera has managed to show the most consistency. In three matches he has 114 runs, at an average of 57. In the win over LSG, he scored 43 from 25, and in the lost match vs RR, he slammed 62 from 41, when the others failed.
That just shows, that Punjab can rely on him to deliver, if the more-famed batters fail on a bad day.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi Quietly Going About his Business
This KKR batter is another India material for sure. Without hogging much limelight, he has been quietly delivering for Kolkata. In 5 matches he has 133 runs, and in that he got a fifty too. Against MI in the second week, where every batter failed, he managed to score 26 from 16 to take them to 116, and then vs SRH, he went on to score 50 from 32.
He can still better his performances from here on, and an improvement in the strike-rate could work wonders for him and the team as well.
