Stock Exchange of Thailand rang a bell on International Women’s Day to support gender equality and empowerment in the business world. The event aimed to foster diversity and inclusion in Thailand‘s business ecosystem.
Bangkok, Thailand – A bell was rung at the start of morning trading at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), International Women’s Day, to signal the widespread support of listed companies and others for improving the status and opportunities of women in the business world.
The SET, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC), the Australian Embassy and UN Women hosted the event, “Ring the Bell for ALL Women and Girls:
Rights. Equality. Empowerment.
The event brought together listed companies, government regulators, signatories to the UN Women and UN Global Compact business-focused Women’s Empowerment Principles, and representatives from the private sector.
It was Thailand’s 11th annual Ring the Bell for Gender Equality event – part of a global campaign in which more than 110 stock exchanges worldwide are committed to empowering women in the workplace, marketplace and community.
“We continue to prioritise diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace and seek concrete changes from all stakeholders to foster a business ecosystem in Thailand that enables everyone to reach their full potential,” said Asadej Kongsiri, President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
“This, in turn, will foster diverse creativity, enhance decision-making capabilities and serve as a fundamental pillar for sustainable organisational and economic development in the future. This commitment is in line with SET’s vision: To make the capital market ‘work’ for everyone.”
