Relegation-battling Leicester City play host to top-four chasing Newcastle United in a huge Premier League encounter on Monday Night Football.
Leicester will stay second-bottom regardless of the result, whilst Newcastle can climb to fifth with a win although a victory of seven goals or more would see them leapfrog Chelsea into fourth.
Team News
Leicester have no fresh injury or suspension concerns following their 2-0 loss at Manchester City, as Abdul Fatawu (ACL) remains ruled out.
Newcastle could be without Joelinton (knee), Alexander Isak and Kieran Trippier (both knocks) after their 2-1 win at home to Brentford.
Matt Targett (illness) and Anthony Gordon (thigh) could return but Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles (both knee) and Lewis Hall (foot) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Leicester host Newcastle at the King Power Stadium on Monday 7 April at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Leicester have won one of their last six league meetings against Newcastle (W1, D1, L4).
- Newcastle have won four of their last six league visits to Leicester (W4, L2).
- All four penalties in total in this Premier League fixture have been scored, with Leicester converting their three spot-kicks to Newcastle’s sole penalty.
- Leicester have scored in just one of their last 10 league matches (W1, L9), which came in a 2-1 win at Tottenham in January.
- Coming into this matchweek, no player has won more aerial duels than Newcastle’s Dan Burn (105).
Prediction
With no goals in their last seven league games and their defence still very vulnerable despite a decent effort in their defeat at Man City, Leicester now need to just tighten up at the back and show more composure up front if want to reverse their rut especially with the pressure off now relegation is a near certainty.
Newcastle meanwhile have a huge opportunity to pile the pressure on Chelsea and Man City if can turn up and play with the same quality and clinical touch which beat Brentford, although I do seriously expect them to find this slightly easier if can apply a strong press that carves their defence open.
Ultimately I just can’t see Newcastle losing this no matter what Leicester throw at them because the Foxes do look out of ideas in terms of goals.
Prediction: Leicester 0-2 Newcastle
