Stat Attack
- Watford have won two of their last five league meetings against Luton (W2, L3).
- Luton are winless in their last six league visits to Watford (D4, L2).
- Four of Watford’s last six home league games against Luton ended in 1-1 draws.
- Watford have conceded five goals in their last two home games without reply (L2).
- No Luton player has made more progressive carries this season than Tahith Chong (60).
Prediction
Having struggled for consistency in the last two months, Watford were pretty clinical in their win at Middlesbrough despite a resilient second-half defensive effort which should give them fresh belief coming into this local derby because this is a huge chance to use the home crowd to their advantage and build momentum for the run-in.
Luton meanwhile are right in the relegation fight and after being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Plymouth in midweek which does neither team much good at present, the Hatters really could do with a huge display and victory to ignite their push for survival after two recently improved performances.
Throw in local pride and this is a derby that neither Watford or Luton can’t afford to lose so I do expect this to be close but if the Hornets score first, I can see them clinging on otherwise it will surely be a 1-1 draw.
Prediction: Watford 1-0 Luton
