A superb strike from Josh Barrett on 86 minutes made it 3-0, a harsh scoreline for the County Durham outfit, but Aldershot from the division above ultimately just shown more quality in the second half to see off Graeme Lee’s spirited side.

Here’s how fans reacted as Whitstable beat Whyteleafe in 24/25 FA Vase Final and Aldershot beat Spennymoor in FA Trophy Final…
ON WHITSTABLE’S WIN:
@HaydnParry: Well done Whitstable! Joining the ranks of famous Kentish Wembley wins!
@simonhoustoun: Well done everyone.. open top bus tour in Whitstable to come ??
@MatthewSpe57720: Great game who needs the premiership you can’t beat a proper non league cup final 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 From a Bromley & Beck’s 👊🏻
@Buzzboy2000: Well done to you from a Romford FC supporter, enjoy this day and the year ahead as holders. Not many clubs will ever achieve this. Safe journey home 👍
@wanderintractor: Huge congrats to @whitstabletown for winning the #FAVase & commiserations to
@AFCWhyteleafe, a great effort just not enough on the day. To my friends in Whitstable, you have just seen something magical so enjoy your celebrations, this memory will always stay with you! 👏👏👏
@LSwallow74: Whyteleafe V Whitstable was a cracking watch for a neutral
@orion_36: Thought Whitstable were better over the whole thing. Saw Whyteleafe win 7-0 earlier this season so expected a lot from them but I think they stopped playing their game too early and invited Whitstable back into it too easily
ON ALDERSHOT’S WIN:
@wedoapps: Congratulations from a Barnet fan. When we played you, it was a tough game given the circumstances, but you showed real quality. You’ve got a great manager and a strong group of players—stick with them, and things will come good. Enjoy your moment… not everyone gets to go there.
@puffpuff65: Unpopular opinion but Whitstable v Aldershot in the summer for a FA Non League Super Cup would be good
@mwgooner: Brilliant Aldershot and brilliant for Capt AJ so proud of you mate what an achievement and what an experience. That will stay with you forever xx
@jamiecallumlou: Well done Shots !! Brilliant, my late father would be loving this win , adopted @OfficialShots during the time he working in the town for @bt_uk
@75Carole: Congratulations CHAMPIONS Aldershot Town, enjoy every second of your celebrations 👏👏🔴🔵🏆🔴🔵👏👏xx
@3LionsPodcast: Is there a nicer looking trophy in English football than the FA Trophy? Congratulations Aldershot 👏
@bristolbluegas: I’m pleased for Ellison, who scored the sort of goal that we’ve desperately short of this season. I’m pleased for Barrett & Widdrington, too, who, I felt, were unfairly singled out at Rovers during that 20/21 season
@KingofSports98: THEY DID IT! THE MADLADS DID IT! UNBELIEVABLE! SHOTS UP ALL THE WAY!
@Crafty_General: Super pleased for everyone involved with this wonderful football club. So wonderful to see those who have been through the thick, the thin, and the malnutrition, rewarded with this day. Super pleased for Geoff Lowry and @grahambrookland. #TheSoldiersGame
@JakartaCasual: Really happy for Aldershot. Before I started earning, my pocket money was just enough to get me to the Recreation Ground in the 1970s. I remember one grim game against Rochdale in 1980. I’d finished reading Roy of the Rovers, sat down on the East bank, and fell asleep! 👏👏👏
