RCB vs GT: Who won yesterday’s IPL match? In the 14th match of the IPL, Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight wickets at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore were heading back to their home ground in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, while GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and went on to win the game in a clinical chase as they ramped home, chasing 170 in just 17.5 overs with 8 wickets to spare.
When put to bat first, RCB got to a disappointing start with the wickets of their veteran batter Virat Kohli to Arshad Khan. This was a huge blow to the Chinnaswamy crowd after Kohli got dismissed on a half-hearted pull.
The wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt followed in the powerplay as the old RCB paceman, Mohammed Siraj, raced through the RCB innings. After the end of the powerplay, GT pacer Ishant Sharma picked the wicket of the RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar.
Though Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone played a stunning hand for RCB, they not only added stability to the innings but also kept the scoreboard ticking. Jitesh went on to score 33 before being dismissed to R. Sai Kishore, while he next baffled Krunal Pandya with a carrom ball.
Liam Livingstone went on to score a great 54-run inning, while he also completed 1000 runs in the IPL—Tim David, who came into bat at no.8 for RCB, smashed Krishna and Sai Kishore for several runs in their final over, thus ensuring a total worth defending with 170 on the board.

RCB vs GT: Buttler slides smoothly through the GT batting innings

Coming into the chase with a total of 170, the Gujarat Titans had a slow start, while Shubman Gill was dismissed for just 14 runs to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This marked Bhuvi’s joint-highest wickets picked in the powerplay.
Post the dismissal of the skipper, Sai Sudarshan, GT’s most inform batter put on a partnership alongside Jos Buttler, who now has been playing in the new role at no.3.
Sudarshan’s 49 runs off 36 balls and Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 73* off 39 balls helped GT gather 75 runs for the second wicket before Hazlewood denied Sudarshan of his third consecutive half-century. Sherfane Rutherford was once again introduced as the impact player, scoring 30* off just 18 balls. They built an unbroken 63-run partnership alongside Buttler.
RCB vs GT: Who was named Player of the Match

Mohammed Siraj was stunning with the ball for the Gujarat Titans, as he registered his best figures for GT while playing against his former team, RCB. Registering 3-19 in his 4 overs, Sai Kishore also claimed 2/22 alongside Buttler’s fifty.
Siraj was named the Player of the Match for his quick impact on the game with early wickets of RCB’s top order.
