Nintendo has announced a new mobile app, Nintendo Today, designed to keep players informed about the latest news, games, and updates.
Available now on iOS and Android, the app functions as a daily calendar, delivering news, videos, and comics related to Nintendo games and franchises.
It was introduced by Shigeru Miyamoto, who described it as a companion to Nintendo’s popular livestream events.
The app will also provide frequent updates on Nintendo’s next console, the Switch 2, following its April 2 Direct showcase.
The launch of Nintendo Today comes during a busy time for the company. Alongside its upcoming Switch 2, Nintendo has been expanding into theme parks, feature films, and even a music streaming service.

The company has also recently introduced the Alarmo alarm clock and opened its own Nintendo Museum. The new app helps consolidate these updates into a single platform for fans.
Additionally, Nintendo revealed a major system update for the current Switch, introducing a new feature called “virtual game cards.”
These digital game cards will work similarly to physical ones, automatically appearing when a game is purchased from the Nintendo eShop. Players can organize, transfer, and share their digital games more easily.
One standout feature of virtual game cards is the ability to share digital games within a Nintendo Switch Family account.
Players can lend a game to a family member for up to two weeks.
The system will also allow wireless transfers between the Switch and Switch 2 using local Wi-Fi, ensuring a smooth transition for those upgrading to the new console.
With the Switch 2 confirmed to be backward compatible, the virtual game card system appears to be Nintendo’s way of making game management and sharing more convenient.
More details about the Switch 2 and its features will be revealed during the April 2 Nintendo Direct.
